Many months ago I was doing my routine commute home at the train station and everyday I pass by the "Station Performers" or the singers that sing for spare change (whatever they're called) and since most of them are annoying I don't think anything of them except how gutsy they are for doing what they do for money. Yet, this particular guy that night caught my attention. He was the dorkiest guy you'll ever meet, yet, he was standing there doing his thing with his cute little amplifier, guitar and mic. His voice was so amazing and the songs he was singing were just perfect for the evening rush hour chaos. It was actually calming me a bit.
I stood there and listened and it was like discovering a great song that fits perfect to your taste and learning that the whole CD is bomb! Then you run to download it from somewhere for free. I was loving it and i was dreading that the train was coming soon. So much so, that I literally let the train pass and waited for another to come in 15 mns. This is big since I know someone from home was wating for me to pick me up 45mns away. But I said, fuck it, all for the love of music. I prepared a lie in my head which I'd tell my awaiting chauffeur and enjoyed the moment.
Thank goodness for cameras phones I was able to take a clip of him (shut up it's not psycho). I was in loooooooveeee with this songgggg!!! I wanted to ask him if he was selling his CD lol! Since I was in the other side of the train platform, I didn't. Plus, I wouldn't have had the guts to anyway. So I recorded from up close when I got in the train too. I left these in my phone not knowing what to do with them but they've been there for months. Once in a while I'd listen to them and wished I could run into him again at the train station.
About two weeks ago Jason Mraz relases his new single "I'm Yours".
I couldn't put my finger on it but I thought, Dammit, I know that song from somewhere, but WHERE?!?! It was seriously killing me!!! Then just this Saturday I was at this pottery place painting a plate for fun with some friends and the song comes up again and I'm like, WTF?! Where is it from?!?! Jason must have stolen it from someone else! Will I ever know?!
Suddenly, like a beam of light shone right over me, I remembered! I dropped my brush and ugly plate and grabbed my phone and there it was.....the answer was sitting in my pocket alll along! I almost teared up. The song wasn't lost in the land of forgetfulness after all. I was soo happy! To me, this song will always belong to the guy at the train station. He sang it so much better anyway. :-)
So, to the guy that made my evening commute that night pleasant and who sang this song especially for me and doesn't know it, thank you and I'll alwasy be your number one fan! :-)
(sorry I didn't spare some change. I was broke anyway. :-/ I'll buy your CD one day legally to make up for it. I promise!)
