Wafers and Conversation

pic credit
Such a small thing can make you loads happy at the moment. Especially when you've had a tough week, from seeing your mom cry to being terrified at sleeping masks. Sitting around the table enjoying wafers cookies I got from Target — the store I drove myself to with my sisters in the car— and conversating with fam like it's a good day and this crappy week never happened. On forth to a new week! Everything stays in the past. Hallelujah. I mean, things still linger but fuck it. Wafers are good and they're wonderful now, at this very moment.

Yet, not all has been crappy. I'm driving better. Its finally feels like second nature...well...some what. I still make stupid mistakes and don't know where I'm going half the time. Yesterday I ran out of the house to go driving alone to the bank. Here's a conversation on how that happened:

Me: *whispering* Mom, I'm leaving now to the bank.
Mom: Ok, just be careful.
Me: Ok, I will. I can do this *short pep talk*
Mom: *smiles and goes to the bathroom*
I run out the door passing my dad at the bottom of the stairs without saying bye.

Dad to my Mom: Where is she going?
Mom: To the bank.
Dad: *confused* You mean, walking? ...that's a long way.
Mom: *laughs* Noooo, in the car!
Dad: *confused and now terrified looking out the door*

He sure has faith in me doesn't he? LOL! I don't blame him. Though, I ran out before he jumped in the car with me and guess what? IT FELT AMAZING! I wanted to keep driving and just be. Alone in my car and just be. Of course, I couldn't go far cuz I might of gotten lost but *shrug* whatevs. Maybe next time.

My sister has been away for a week and hasn't seen my progress so when she went with me to Target (where I got the Wafers) she was impressed. Then she screamed at me for driving through a one way in a parking lot, almost taking a wrong turn down a street, hitting the break, freaking out, then cutting off cars behind me. She had a slight heart attack but still thinks I'm doing well. :-) She's nice. Dont' think she'll tell on me to my parents. :-)

Long week...but wafers do the trick when sitting around the table having nice conversation for a change. They make things better, I've decided. Buy some, crack a smile and have a laugh. It works wonders.

LOL @ driving skillz.

A friend just told me that she has total confidence in me driving her around in San Francisco. Felt very proud till she reminded me I'd made one illegal left turn, choose wrong direction in a one-way street, and ran a red light. All in one evening.

How can you have confidence after that? I asked. Friend, deadpan:
Well, you don't get hysterical...

As soon as you've gained some confidence there's someone there to take you down...
